Use Maxi letter to send up to 2kg of light and small articles, e.g. binders, large brochures, posters, boxes and bags, easily and conveniently. The price includes delivery to the addressee. Maxi Letters are delivered to the addressee if they can be posted through a mail slot or mailbox. If this is not possible, the postman will leave a notification of arrival.

Delivery Time
  • Priority Maxi letters and 1st Class Maxi letters are usually delivered on the next working day.
  • Economy Maxi letters and 2nd Class Maxi letters reach the addressee within two working days.

Maximum length + width + thickness = 900mm; maximum length 600mm.

For tubular items, maximum length + (diameter x2) 1,040mm; maximum length 900mm.

Minimum Dimensions

400mm x 250mm x 30mm.

For tubular items, minimum length + (diameter x2) 170mm; minimum length 100mm.

Indications and Codes

The upper part of an Economy Maxi letter and 2nd Class Maxi letter must bear the marking ‘2’ (recommended minimum height 10mm).

When sending a letter containing goods to the Åland Islands, attach the green CN 22 label (or the CN 23 declaration) to the letter, providing information on the content of the item and the value of the goods and, for commercial items, documents required by Customs.

COD items must bear a COD address label.

Address labels, labels and documents required by the Customs are available at postal outlets.

Sending

Maxi letters can be posted on working days at a postal outlet, sorting centre or terminal. You can also use our pick-up service, which is subject to a charge.

If a 2nd Class mailing contains at least 20 letters or cards, it can also include international Economy items.

Maxi letters may not be dropped into a postbox.

Receiving

Maxi Letters are delivered to the addressee if they can be posted through a mail slot or mailbox. If this is not possible, the postman will leave a notification of arrival and the item may then be collected from a local postal outlet.

Pricing

The postage for a Maxi letter is determined by the tariff in effect at the time of posting unless otherwise agreed.

The pricing of Priority and Economy Maxi letters depends on the size and weight of the items and the size of the mailing.

For 1st and 2nd Class Maxi letters, we use pricing based on weight classes.

Retaining

A Maxi letter that cannot be delivered to the addressee will be stored at a postal outlet for three full calendar weeks in addition to the week of arrival, after which the item will be returned to the sender free of charge.

We will charge a new transport fee for Maxi letters containing merchandise and handled as customer returns in accordance with the distance selling provisions of the Consumer Protection Act (38/1978) as defined in the Postal Services Act.

Restrictions as to Content

Maxi letters are not suitable for sending cash and/or valuables; these should be sent as Insured items.

Other Specifications

You can send items as Maxi letters without dispatch documents, with the exception of COD items.

Items weighing up to 500g can be sent COD.
